Buffalo Bandits at New York Titans
Saturday, 7:30 PM - Prudential Center
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Matt Vinc held the vaunted Bandits offense to just three goals as the Titans advanced to the NLL Championship Game with a 9-3 victory.

A quiet first half had New York (12-6, 2-0) ahead 1-0 after one quarter, on a goal by Jordan Hall, and 3-1 at halftime.

The big action came in the third quarter, as the Titans struck for five goals and Buffalo (11-7, 1-1) battled to avoid single-game records for scoring futility.

Mid-quarter goals by Sean Greenhalgh and Mike Accursi pulled the Bandits out of the danger zone, but the team was still down 6-3 at the time.

Pat Maddalena and Casey Powell scored late in the third quarter to push the score to 8-3, then Powell scored again 4:40 into the fourth quarter to establish the final score.

Powell finished with seven points (2 goals, 5 assists), easily leading all scorers. Mark Steenhuis and John Tavares paced the Bandits with two points each (2 assists).

San Jose Stealth at Calgary Roughnecks
Saturday, 9:00 PM - Saddledome
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Matt King made 42 saves and added a demoralizing goal as the Roughnecks crushed the Stealth, 17-5.

Calgary (14-4, 2-0) was already ahead 5-0 in the closing seconds of the first quarter when King scored on an end-to-end shot on an empty net.

To King's further credit, he managed to outscore San Jose (8-10, 1-1) over the first three quarters. While the Roughnecks ran their goal total to nine by intermission and 15 after three quarters, the Stealth had zero goals.

Finally, San Jose got on the board 24 seconds into the fourth quarter, on a goal by Rhys Duch, then Jeff Zywicki added one moments later. The Stealth knocked down a few more goals but (obviously) never got close enough to put a scare in the Riggers.

Josh Sanderson led all scorers with ten points, on a goal and nine assists, while Tracey Kelusky, having just arrived back in town from his grandmother's funeral, netted five goals. Zywicki had two goals and an assist for the Stealth.
