Stealth moves north to WashingtonWill play at 8,300-seat Comcast Arena in EverettR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief After six seasons in the Bay Area, the San Jose Stealth will relocate to Everett, Washington for the upcoming 2010 season. The Stealth -- due to be renamed at a press conference next week -- will play at the 8,300-seat Comcast Arena, which is also home to the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. Everett is located 30 miles north of Seattle and, perhaps more of interest to NLL-hungry British Columbians, just over 100 miles south of Vancouver. "We are very excited about our move to the Comcast Arena at Everett and to introduce the region to the thrilling and fast-paced sport of professional indoor lacrosse," Stealth owner Denise Watkins said. "There is a strong lacrosse community already present in Everett and the greater Seattle area. We look forward to becoming an active partner and helping to continue the growth of lacrosse with local high schools and clubs." This will be the third home for the Stealth franchise, which began life as the Albany Attack in 2000 and moved to HP Pavilion for the 2004 season. Two other NLL franchises could relocate in the coming weeks. LumberJax ownership previously announced that it will not continue operating the team in Portland. The New York Titans, meanwhile, have been exploring numerous venues but are expected to settle at Prudential Center (Newark, NJ) full-time. -30- |
