The Washington Stealth has traded Colin Doyle and a conditional second round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft to the Toronto Rock in exchange for Lewis Ratcliff, Tyler Codron and Joel Delgarno.

The trade returns to Doyle to Toronto, where he played from 1999 to 2006 (he also played with the Rock's forerunner, the Ontario Raiders, in 1998).

In his eight years with Toronto, Doyle played in 117 regular season games collecting 624 points from 263 goals and 361 assists, and finished either first or second in Rock scoring each season. In 2005, Doyle was named NLL Most Valuable Player.

As part of each of Toronto's championship teams, Doyle has won the NLL Champion's Cup five times and was named Champion's Cup Most Valuable Player in 1999, 2002, and 2005.

On 27 December 2006, the Rock sent Doyle, Darren Halls, and a 2007 first round entry draft pick to the San Jose Stealth for Ryan Benesch, Kevin Fines, Chad Thompson, and the Stealth's 2008 and 2009 first round entry draft selections.

Doyle spent three seasons captaining the San Jose Stealth, now based out of Everett, Washington. While in San Jose, Doyle scored 87 goals, assisted on 193 others and picked up 166 loose balls. He finished the 2009 regular season with 111 points, good for first in the league. The marker was only four points shy of Buffalo Bandits forward John Tavares' single season record of 115 points.

Only the third player in NLL history to surpass over 900 points, Doyle has never missed the playoffs in his 12 year career.

Ratcliff, an assistant captain for the Rock last season, joined Toronto in March 2008 from the Calgary Roughnecks. In the 2009 season Ratcliff recorded 68 points (34 goals, 34 assists) and 68 loose balls.

"It's no secret how much I enjoyed playing for Chris Hall [in Calgary]," said Ratcliff after the trade was announced. "I'm pretty familiar with most of the guys in the Stealth locker room and I can't wait to get to camp this weekend."

"This makes a lot of sense for me life-wise. I think the only person more excited than me is my wife," Ratcliff added about the prospect of moving closer to his Victoria home.

"In the end, I think it's a win-win for both teams," Hall commented on the trade. "To lose a player like Colin Doyle is tough, but when you are getting the talent we're getting in Ratcliff, Codron and Delgarno, it definitely eases the blow. We've done a lot to improve our team from last season. We will have a lot of depth on both ends of the floor."

Dalgarno was the Rock's second pick in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft (seventh overall). He played college lacrosse at Ohio State, where he was a team captain during his time with the Buckeyes.

Codron was acquired by the Rock in the Portland LumberJax dispersal draft in July 2009. Sidelined due to an ACL injury sustained while playing football at the University of British Columbia, Codron's playing status for 2010 is still unknown.
