Rock's Manning chosen as Player of the WeekSeventeen points in two games; Vinc, Morgan, Leblanc also honoredNLL Press Release Toronto Rock forward Blaine Manning has been voted the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week for the games of Week Five.
In two Rock wins this past weekend, Manning scored eight goals and nine assists for a total of 17 points. On Friday, he scored three goals and six assists in a 19-11 home win against Philadelphia. On Saturday, he scored five goals and three assists in a 14-10 road win at Buffalo. Orlando Titans goaltender Matt Vinc was named the Defensive Player of the Week. In the Titans' 12-5 victory at Colorado, Vinc stopped 47 out of 52 of the Mammoth shots he faced. The five goals allowed set a new record for the Titans franchise as the fewest goals allowed to an opponent in one game. The Transition Player of the Week is Peter Morgan of the Washington Stealth. Morgan scored two goals and three assists, and picked up four loose balls, in the Stealth's 12-9 win over Minnesota. The win improved the Stealth, the lone undefeated team in the league this season, to 6-0. Toronto Rock forward Stephan Leblanc was voted Rookie of the Week. In two wins for the Rock this past weekend, Leblanc had a combined 14 points on five goals and nine assists. On Friday, he had three goals and six assists against Philadelphia. On Saturday, he had two goals and three assists in the win at Buffalo. The NLL weekly player awards are determined each week by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the league's eleven member clubs. -30- |
