Callum Crawford named NLL Player of Week

Powell, O'Toole, Toll, Billings also honored for Week Seven play

Minnesota Swarm forward Callum Crawford yesterday was named the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week for Week Seven.

Crawford set the pace for the Swarm by being part of nine of the teams 15 goals; he had four goals, five assists and picked up five loose balls in the 15-5 win over the Colorado Mammoth.

Edmonton Rush forward Ryan Powell was named Offensive Player of the Week. Powell scored eight points with four goals and four assists. With the Rush trailing the Toronto Rock heading into the fourth quarter, Powell was a part of three of five Edmonton goals that would eventually put the Rush in the lead for good in a 14-13 win.

Rochester Knighthawks goaltender Pat O'Toole was named the Defensive Player of the Week. O'Toole made 34 stops on 40 shots on goal. After giving up three early first quarter goals, O'Toole only allowed three additional goals the last 56 minutes of the game. He was able to stop all nine of Philadelphia's fourth-quarter shots on goal in the 12-6 road win.

The Transition Player of the Week was Rochester's Steve Toll. Toll scored two goals and collected a game-high 18 loose balls. Toll put the Knighthawks on the board, scoring a shorthanded goal to that began to turn momentum after Philadelphia jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Knighthawks went on to win the game, 12-6.

Toronto forward Garrett Billings was voted Rookie of the Week. Billings scored three goals and had five assists in the 14-13 road loss to the Rush. Four of Billings' eight points came on Toronto's five second-half goals, keeping the game within reach until the game ended. For Billings, this is his third Rookie of the Week honor.

The NLL weekly player awards are determined each week by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the league's eleven member clubs.
