Roughnecks take over first place in Experts PollCalgary takes advantage of Buffalo's loss one night after its own big winR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief After pounding the Edmonton Rush last weekend and with some help from the East, the Calgary Roughnecks have moved into first place in this week's Lacrosse-Network.com Experts Poll. The Riggers dismantled Edmonton, 22-10, on Friday, building a solid case for the top spot in the weekly rankings should Buffalo falter. One night later, Buffalo faltered, losing in overtime at Rochester. As a result, Calgary and Buffalo switch places in the new rankings, with the Riggers drawing a perfect 84 points on seven first-place votes and Buffalo dropping to second, with 76 points. Boston, which also lost in overtime, remains third, with 71 points. In the bottom half of the rankings, Minnesota (38 points) and Rochester (37 points) were rewarded for their victories by moving up two spots each, to seventh and eighth. Philadelphia (28 points) and San Jose (22 points) each fell two places (ninth and tenth, respectively) after losing. Our panel of seven experts includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on an 12-11-10-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 84 points and the minimum is seven points.
