Losing streaks not hurting Stealth or Rock in Experts Poll

Washington, Toronto remain 1-2 in weekly balloting; Orlando drops to 5th

Usually, a two-game losing streak is enough to knock a team from atop the weekly Lacrosse-Network.com Experts Poll.

What's not usual, though, is for the second- and third-place teams to also be on skids.

The Washington Stealth again avoided tumbling out of first place in this week's poll, earning 73 points despite a 13-9 loss at Calgary. This is due in large part to Toronto having lost at Edmonton, 14-13, and Orlando falling to Boston, 12-11.

Like the Stealth, Toronto's loss was its second in succession. It wasn't hurt by the defeats, either, receiving 68 points this week.

Orlando (53 points), perhaps the least deserving of the three to be penalized for losing (the loss to Boston came in double overtime), actually tumbled two spots to fifth and now trails both Rochester (57 points) and Calgary (54 points).

Our panel of seven experts includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on an 11-10-9-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 77 points and the minimum is seven points.

The complete rankings from this week's Experts Poll, with comments (win-loss record through Sunday is in parentheses):

WEEK SEVEN Pts Prv
 1. Washington Stealth (6-2) 73 1
Suddenly struggling to put up a 'W'...
 2. Toronto Rock (6-3) 68 2
...at least the Rock is losing close games
 3. Rochester Knighthawks (5-3) 57 4
Doubled up three teams so far this year
 4. Calgary Roughnecks (4-3) 54 5
Week off before game vs. flailing Wings
 5. Orlando Titans (3-2) 53 3
Win at TOR would put Titans in first place
 6. Edmonton Rush (4-3) 45 6
Avenged Week 5 blowout loss very well
 7. Boston Blazers (4-4) 40 7
Defeated the Titans ... twice now
 8. Minnesota Swarm (3-4) 25 10
Fresh off thrashing COL, gets 'em again
 9. Buffalo Bandits (2-5) 23 8
Next 5: Five different Eastern foes
10. Colorado Mammoth (2-5) 16 9
Must do better than another 15-5 loss
11. Philadelphia Wings (1-6) 8 11
At least they can't fall to 12th, right?
